Apple CEOスティーブジョブスが、”6月まで医療休暇をとり治療に専念する”、とApple社員へ宛てたメールの中で明らかにしました。[source, image: Silicon Alley Insider]
ジョブスは先週、自身の体重減少の原因が特定され、時間を要するものの回復する見込み、と発表していました。
しかしながら、健康状態への興味は消えることが無く、治療とApple社員への影響を考え、一時的に職を離れて治療に専念することに決めたようです。
ジョブスの回復を心から願い、そして間接的ながらも治療を妨げることは不本意なので、このブログでジョブスの健康状態についてエントリーを書くのはこれを最後にしたいと思います。
以下が、Apple社員へ向けて送られたとされるメールです。
Team
Iam sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very
personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my
personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my
family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the
past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex
than I originally thought.

先週のアップル・コミュニティーに向けた私の声明を読んでもらったことと思います。残念なことにその後も、私の健康状態への興味は途絶えることがなく、私と家族だけでなくアップル社員の皆さんへも影響が及んでいます。さらに今週、私の病状が当初考えていたよりも複雑だということが分かってきました。
In order to take myself out of the
limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to
focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a
medical leave of absence until the end of June.
スポットライトを浴びることなく自分の治療に集中するため、そして社員の皆さんが素晴らしい製品を送り出すことに集中するため、6月いっぱいまで医療休暇に入ることを決断しました。
I have asked Tim
Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he
and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As
CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am
out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

ティム・クックにアップルの経営を一任しることに決め、上級マネージメントのチームが良い仕事をしてくれることを期待しています。休暇中もCEOとして重要な案件へは関わっていく予定です。取締役会もこの方針に賛成しています。
