米Business Week誌が、｢iPod touch｣の部品コストは1万7千円程度、との試算を報じた。

記事によると、リサーチ会社 iSuppli が部品コストの見積もりを行い、｢iPod touch 8G｣は実に $147 (約16,900円、1$=115円換算) とのリサーチ結果を出したとのこと。
“… according to a teardown analysis conducted by market-research firm iSuppli, the Touch isn’t just a stripped-down iPhone, but rather it has some unique design traits of its own. ISuppli pegs Apple’s (AAPL) total cost of components on the 8GB version of the Touch at $147, or about 49% of the $299 retail price on the device. This would follow the pattern of other devices in Apple’s iPod family that generally carry material costs that amount to about half, give or take a few percentage points, of the retail price… “
“… マーケットリサーチ会社 iSuppli の分解/解析によると、｢Touch｣はただのiPhoneの簡略版ではなく独自のデザインがされいてる。iSuppli によると、8GBバージョンのアップル社にとっての部品コストは$147で、(米国での)小売価格$299の49%にあたる。これはアップル社の他の製品にもみられる、材料コストは小売価格のおよそ半分、という法則に合致する。”
iSuppli が分解したtouch 8GBのFlash Memoryは東芝製で、コストは$32と見積もられています。ディスプレイはさらにコストが高く、$44とのこと。 $147(約16,900円)というコストには、ソフトウェア開発、宣伝・マーケティング、等は含まれていません。
以前に本サイトで、かなりアバウトな試算をした際は、8GBが$192、16GBが$240でした。予想よりもかなりコストは抑えられているという結果になりました。既に実売価格は10%以上値引きがされていますが、もう少し下げてくれると嬉しいですね。
